A Magical Phoenix Proposal: Behind the Scenes
One of the most exciting parts of being a photographer is collaborating with clients to create unforgettable moments. Recently, I had the absolute joy of helping a client plan a surprise proposal in Phoenix!
The Initial Idea
We tossed around a few ideas, and Phoenix became the clear choice. The city is full of stunning desert vistas and sunsets that melt into the horizon. After narrowing down locations, we found the perfect spot—a secluded area with cacti, in the middle of the Botanical Garden!
Planning the Surprise
The challenge, of course, was keeping everything under wraps. Blake and I worked closely together to ensure every detail would be a surprise for Taylor. We coordinated timing and where he would drop to a knee once inside the gardens. Timing was critical because we wanted to capture that golden hour light. After all, a desert sunset can create some of the most breathtaking images, and I wanted to make sure it was just right for their special moment.
The Big Day
As they arrived, I stayed hidden, waiting for them to come through the check in station. I sat on a bench pretending to be another guest visiting the gardens. I stayed a distance behind them and followed them to the proposal spot. When the question was finally asked, the look on her face was priceless—a mix of shock, joy, and overwhelming emotion. It was pure magic.
The golden hour did not disappoint! The light was soft and warm, casting a dreamy glow over the entire scene. As they embraced and celebrated, I captured candid moments of love and laughter, the desert landscape adding a sense of timelessness to the photos.
Helping plan and capture this Phoenix proposal was such an honor. Being part of such a meaningful moment in someone’s life is always humbling, and I’m grateful I could contribute to making their day unforgettable.
